The Early Bird Gets The Bad Grade

This article is about students not getting enough out of their school day because they do not get enough sleep because school starts too early. So this article is explaining that if students do not get enough sleep, then they will perform poorly in school and other activities in or after school. I think that what the author is saying is true because I wake up everyday for school and i feel like i need more sleep. In the article she explains how your biological clock keeps you awake until a certain time. Some schools already lengthenened the school day like in massachusetts, where they added three extra hours to the school day in order to make sure that students are learning alot of things since they have more time to do so. I like this article because I think that the author brught up a good point and I do think that students need more sleep before they go and start learning in their usual school day.Three reasons why this would be bad is, that it would be an inconvenience for some parents and teachers who have places to be at certain times, also, it would be a difficulty adjusting the after-school schedule, lastly this would be bad because, of the cost of additional bus service. In some schools they pushed back the school starting hour from 7:30 to 8:40 since then, dropout rates have decreased, atheltes have started perfoming better, and teachers have noticed an increase in attention and grades have slightly improved. In conclusion staring the school day later would be a great idea.
